New report claims media recruitment levels are rising
Media recruitment levels saw an upswing in May, according to the Handle Buzz report.
The survey revealed a 34 per cent rise in recruitment levels for sales, marketing and digital roles, as well as in HR, office support and finance and legal roles for the media and entertainment sector. Handle added that the marketing industry alone saw a 63 per cent rise in vacancies over the month.
A spokesman for the Handle Buzz report, Dominic Warman, said the growth is being driven by a healthy upturn in the industry. “The digital space continues to increase in importance within the media and entertainment sectors.”
“This is driven by the fact that these industries were early adopters of social media. There is a real need for people who can effectively create innovative campaigns across multiple platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Foursquare,” he added.
The rise in permanent recruitment did result in a slight fall in the number of vacancies for temporary roles. However, despite the increase in vacancies, permanent salaries remained unchanged at an average of around £40,000. Mr Warman added that those with “solid commercial experience” are likely to be most in demand.
