Students snapping up digital roles
A greater number of students are getting paid work in the digital sector, according to a recent digital remuneration survey.
There has been a 261 per cent rise in the number of students getting fully paid digital marketing jobs in the past year, according to the industry survey.
The figures show that 37 per cent of the billings by current students is for web design and 3D work, while 31 per cent is paid to web programmers and IT workers. Online journalism was also a popular sphere for students, accounting for 31 per cent of the billing.
Commentators believe this new trend for students taking remote working roles shows that they are more in tune with the opportunities that these kinds of positions can offer. They are also taking advantage of the opportunities for employment in smaller companies and agencies that may be looking to get young digital talent on their books.
In addition to the rise in student recruitment, the survey revealed a rise in the amount of money students are earning from their digital work – up by 515 per cent in the past 12 months alone.
